Shareefee Pre-School History
Meedhoo has been claimed as the oldest inhibited island in Addu Atoll with an age of above 3000 years (meedhoo.com). Meedhoo is famed for its learned men at not only national level, but at international level too. It has a long list of great academics Meedhoo produced over years and they succeeded in achievements which made the nation proud of them.

However, the pre-school education of the modern day era was first introduced to Meedhoo by Mr Mohamed Majeed in early 1980s while he was running the only formal education establishment in the island providing modern educatation to the children of this island. With a little fee charged from the parents he volunteered to offer literacy and numeracy sessions to little children. Every day, when the normal primary school hours were over, he would stay there with the kids helping them to open the first chapter of their academic life. Later, when the Primary School which was run by the islanders was funded by the government, the lessons were made formal and began the formal nursary schooling in Meedhoo.

In 2000 the Maldives Government offered a new building in a new site to Meedhoo School to run as a Primary School, thus offering the opportunity of running a pre-school at the old site. Mr Ali Shareef of Laaju Varudhee, who was then teaching as a primary teacher at the school, took this opportunity to serve his island with his enthusiasm. Shareefee pre-school was born.
After 7 years of running we have now three class rooms and run for two sessions. The the students find Shareefee experience quite entertaining while learning the basic skills for life. Our staff try to make sure that we provide every kid a fair developmental platform where they can share with other kids and learn from them as well.
